The following rules are based heavily on the rules available from the Cyber athlete Amateur League Counter-Strike league (CAL) and Cyber athlete Professional League (CPL) and have been edited solely for the purpose of the application to our Counter Strike tournaments. These are in no way complete CAL/CPL rules and should not be construed as such. If you would like to view the official CAL rules, you can find them on their website at http://www.caleague.com/. If you would like to view the official CPL rules, you can find them on their website at http://www.thecpl.com/summer/csrules.htm.

If you have a specific query about whether something is regarded as cheating, seek clarification from an admin.
3: General
3.1 All competitors involved in The KGL are expected to know and understand all of the rules. Not knowing that a rule existed is not an excuse for breaking that rule.
3.2 Any rule being broken may lead to disciplinary action. This action will be at the discretion of the admin(s) involved, and the situation will be taken into account. Punishment may include, but not be limited to, forfeits, replays, penalty points, kicks, temporary and permanent bans.
3.3 Matches will consist of one team of 5 players facing another team of 5 players. In exceptional circumstances then this rule may be waived at the admins discretion. Each team of 5 players will appoint a team captain. This player will be the person to communicate with the admin team before, during and after the game.
4: League Guidelines
4.1 KGL is funnily enough currently run on a league system. Each team will play each other once and if any clans finish on the same points at the end, it will be decided by round difference.
4.1a 3 points for a win, 1 for point for a draw and 0 for a loss.
4.1b Defaults are 16-0
4.1c You must play ALL 30 rounds
Summary of Cup rules:
4.2a Please see the main rules for definitions etc.
4.2b Cup matches can be rescheduled if both clans agree. Requests and agreements should take place on the forums. The match must take place before the next weeks fixtures. For "one nighters" - reschedules are not permitted.
4.2c Should a clan leave the cup during the first round then a clan from the waiting list will be invited to particpate in the cup
4.2d The cup is a straight knockout and is first to 16 rounds
4.2e In the event of a no show a default will be awarded with the result being 16-0.
4.2f All matches will be played using MR15, 1.45 minute rounds and 10 second freezetime.
4.2g In the event of a draw, overtime with MR3 10K Start money shall be played
5: Match Guidelines
5.1 All players will be expected to be in the designated server within 15 (10 for a cup) minutes of their alloted match start time. Failure to meet this rule may result in a default loss being issued to the team that does not meet this rule.
5.2a During the knife round each team is permitted to use only knives. A player may buy any available items, but use of any weapon other than a knife will result in the round being defaulted to the other team. Any grenade throwing, whether it has an effect on the round or not, will result in the round being defaulted to the other team. The winner of the knife round will be able to pick whether they start as Terrorists or Counter-Terrorists.
5.2b Once a knife round has commenced, then both teams are considered to be in agreement on the current match setup (including server settings). You can have no complaint afterwards if something wasn't verified before the knife round.
5.3 If the server crashes before 3 rounds have been completed, then the server will be restarted and the game score reset to 0-0. Each player will start with $800. If the server crashes after 3 completed rounds, then the server will be restarted, but the score will remain the same (for example, it is 3-1 to the Terrorists and the server crashes in the 5th round, the server will be restarted but the score will be 3-1 to the Terrorist team at the restart). Each player will start with $4500. The maxrounds for that half will be changed to equal the remaining rounds left at the point of the server crash.
5.4a If a players computer loses connection to the server (network or computer problems) then that individual must make their best effort to rejoin the match at the earliest possible time. To prohibit any exploits, there will be no stoppage in play during a round, and a substitution will not be allowed during that round. A 5 minute pause will be allowed during the deadtime at the end of the round/freezetime at the beginning of the next round for the player to rejoin the server. A pause may also be given at this time if a team brings an AFK to the attention of the admin. We encourage all players to ensure that their computer is in proper working order prior to the match to minimise problems such as this.
5.4b Reserve players can be used as substitutes. Pauses will not be given for a substitution to take place, however a substitute may replace a dropped player if he cannot himself rejoin the match. Substitutions will be allowed at half time. A maximum of two substitutions will be allowed per team per match. Substitutes must be registered correctly on the KGL website with the correct SteamID.
5.6 Voice communication is allowed. You may make use of the in-game voice communications, or use external programs such as Ventrilo.
5.7 In the result of a draw, there will be no overtime
5.8 When playing defuse maps, it is illegal for the bomb to be planted in an area only accessible by jumping and/or boosting (using one player to elevate another to a different level) - boostplanting. If the bomb is planted but it appears to make no sound - silent planting - then this is illegal. The round will become void, and further disciplinary action may be taken. When defusing, the bomb must be visible.
5.11 A match is ended when all 30 rounds are played. Rounds won will be used to determine a "winner" if two teams finish on the same number of points.
5.12a During a round each player is entitled to:
1 High Explosive Grenade (HE Grenade)
2 Flashbang Grenades
1 Smoke Grenade
Unlimited Primary and Secondary Weapons
Unlimited Primary and Secondary Ammunition
This means that on a map such as de_prodigy you may not continually buy and throw HE grenades, or use smoke grenades to smoke out the middle doors on de_dust2. These are only examples, the rule extends to any such instance of grenade "spamming".
6: Server Settings
6.1 {Server settings removed from public viewing}
6.2 SourceTV will be used for all of KGC matches. A 90 second delay will operate. No clan (under any circumstances) can refuse to play on the basis of SourceTV.
7: Client Settings/Cheating
7.1 Every player will be required to run the latest version of the XAC while competing in the KGL competition. If they do not do so, they will be kicked from the server and unable to take part. It is your responsibility to make sure that the AntiCheat functions correctly on your computer and yours alone. Anyone who cannot run the AntiCheat will must speak to an admin. The XAC will scan your machine for VAC proof cheats and other illegal programs.
7.2 If the AntiCheat catches you cheating, you will be removed from the KGL and action may be taken against your team. If you have cheated in the past, then the AntiCheat may detect this (due to things such as the cheat leaving registry information). If this affects you, we recommend that you format your hard drive to remove all trace of the cheat. If you are detected we do not care if you only use the cheat for "fun" in mixes, or if your hamster installed it while you were asleep, you will be removed.
7.3 Zblock will be enforced on all servers
7.4 First person demos are not mandatory, as SourceTV demos will be recorded. If an admin or the other team requests you to record a first person demo before a match however, then you must do so. If you do not record a demo when asked to, you leave yourself subject to disciplinary action. You agree to play under SourceTV and/or record first person demos.
7.5 Custom models and skins are not allowed (this include high FPS models). The only legal models are those which come with a clean install of Steam. If you have a specific query then please ask an admin.
7.6 We do not tolerate any form of cheating within our tournaments, if you are caught you will be removed from all KGL competitions, and any event fee you may have paid for entry will not be refunded.
7.7 If a players screenshots are not uploaded at the end of a game, then the game may be declared void at an admins discretion. Report any problems of this nature to an admin immediately, and follow any onscreen instructions.
7.8 Bunnyhopping is NOT allowed - bunnyhopping is defined as the basic movement technique in which player is jumping repeatedly instead of running in order to move faster or/and to avoid enemy fire
7.9 The min rates for the league are; Rate 15000, CMDrate 50, Updaterate 50.
7.10 In light of Valve making previous VAC bans public, previously VACed players are not allowed to participate in KGL. Any players trying to bypass this rule will be banned permanently. Results in fixtures that these players have played in will be left up to the discretion of the admin team.
8: Conduct
8.1 All participants in any KGL competition will be required to uphold to the highest standards and observe common sportsmanship. Racism will NOT be tolerated. If you are seen to be racist then you will have action taken against you. Being abusive in any way towards fellow players or admins will also result in disciplinary action.
8.2 Anyone who has been caught cheating in any KGL event may be suspended from all future KGL events. KGL Admins will review cases and players may be suspended for a period of not less than one year and is subject to review by KGL admins for readmission after that point. If a player is caught cheating in a KGL cup match, their team shall forfeit that game. Any matches played with that player up to that point should have the losses overturned. The computer system that you play from is not the responsibility of the KGL. You are responsible for the system that you play from. If you allow others to use your computer(s) or you borrow/rent systems to play from, you need to ensure that they are cheat free prior to playing. KGL will not conduct witch-hunts to try and find cheat violations against players.
8.3 Players are expected to compete in a professional manner. Throwing a match, halting play without cause, or showing a flagrant lack of effort will be construed as a violation of player conduct, and will result in match forfeit and disqualification from the tournament.
9: Miscellaneous
9.1 The rules are open to many different interpretations. The only interpretation which matters is the interpretation of the admin. We reserve the right to modify the rules at any time. This includes changes due to software updates or releases, and any other change deemed necessary by the league. You must understand that the rules listed are guidelines to try and ensure fair and competitive play, and they will be applied by officials based on the spirit of the game. Teams should check the rules prior to any event to ensure they are in compliance. They should also keep an eye on the website, as changes will be announced on the website. You must be familiar with the current ruleset.
